Being Ghetto & the MoTab

When I announced to Samuel that I had invited a few couples over for our traditional General Conference pancake breakfast and to watch the Saturday morning session with us, he immediately replied, "But Janae, we don't have a tv!" Touche.

Okay, that's not what I really said back. But I just recently figured out exactly what that word means and I've been searching for a way to use it in my blog for over a month. Not quite a perfect use, but still. I used it. Now I can die happy.

What I really said was, "Who cares? We can watch it on the internet. Our friends will still like us if we're ghetto." So we ghettified it up and moved all our couches into the kitchen to surround the computer.

Starting at Seara and moving counter clockwise: Sease, me, Jason, Eileen, Michelle & Doug, Guy

I know. Awesome, huh.

The best part of conference is the spiritual stuff, of course. But the second best part is spotting the camera's MoTab favorites. You know who I'm talking about.

Man, I love General Conference!

That's one late breakfast, honey. Being captive in the Eastern Time Zone, we happen to know the "morning" session starts at NOON! That's a pancake LUNCH!

Nice pics of the Mo Tab favs!

Fun stuff. There's another mo tab favorite I missed this time. The pretty lady with the really white hair. I didn't see her at all. Maybe she was sick or something. That first guy is so classic. I've been noticing him for YEARS!

Oh, and what's up with that guy hanging over your oven??? :)

I love the couches in the kitchen idea. It's a new decor statement. I totally think they should stay.

You'll probably start a new trend. :)

I totally kept noticing the lady with the grey hair. That's funny that you didn't think about the whole tv part... or were you planning on using the internet all along?

You forgot the lady with the red hair - she sits right next to the men and I am sure that if she reads your blog she'll be offended that you forgot her.

Im loving the picture of the couches in the kitchen. I think you should leave that set-up. Dinner would be a snap. Just lean forward from the comforts of your chair to pull dinner out of the oven. Could it really get better? I don't think so.

Erin - Oh, I was planning on using the internet all along. We've never had tv (in my marriage, I did growing up) so we've always watched it over the internet. I think Sam's big worry was that the computer screens are small and there were going to be a lot of people. But to that I say pshaw! Better to enjoy it with friends than to watch it alone in a movie theater! At least so I say. :)

Okay, conference is not complete til we've seen Gray Hair Half Beehive lady at least seven times.

And I have to tell you that this is my absolute FAVORITE conference post thus far today.

Awesome.

(ALSO (I know, I just can't stop myself from also-ing) we watched conference in the computer room too. With two kids for two days. It's bee-u-tiful right now.)

Is that guy on top someone that I would know? Because he looks so familiar!

So funny that you watched it in the kitchen. Good memories!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the MoTab camera favs. ;-)

And Celeste loves MoTab. She signed for "more" once each hymn finished. It was difficult to explain that there wasn't going to be another hymn for another 45 minutes.

Haha! Man, you are so right about the camera's favorites in the MoTab. Erik's sister and I kept trying to find the lady with the HUGE white hair. She thought she'd left, but I was so convinced she had finally changed her hair style. Does anyone know?! haha! So fun. Good for you for having an awesome tradition and sharing it!

Sarah - my sister couldn't find the white haired lady either. Maybe she retired? or maybe she was sick or out of town? I don't know!

Do you think the cameras really try to do close up shots of the same people all the time? I wonder if it's because of where the choir members stand or if it's just because their faces are really interesting to the camera operators. I'll have to ponder that one for a while.

Huzzah for conference on the Internet and couches in the kitchen!!!

Ooops!

Cara - I so meant to answer you earlier. The guy - whose name, parenthetically, is actually Guy - was just posing for the shot. The oven wasn't actually on. You can't see, but he was pretending to pull a piece of honeydew from the oven. So funny!

That woman was my Music for El. Ed. teacher! My kids and husband are so sick of me pointing her out!
