the Birthday Girl

So I'm a couple weeks late posting this, but Seara turned 4! I guess this means only one more year at home before kindergarten. I'm think I'm more scared than I am excited. But that's a post for another day.

This is the best birthday picture I got. Not surprising, if you know Seara. She loves her agency and really hates being told what to do. Things like, "Smile for the picture, Seara!" really push her buttons. :) I've decided that this is a good thing. If I can just teach her to be stubbornly righteous, we'll be set!

Seara is really awesome at being a good sport and going with the flow. This kind of attribute comes in handy when it comes to birthday traditions. Things like cake. You remember that Sam and I aren't huge cake fans, right? Sorry sweetie. This year we went sugar cookies:

Sease is also quite the peacemaker. Most of the time she'd prefer to let Elijah have the toy than to have a fight, and she's always the first one to find Enoch's sippy cup if he's screaming. It really upsets her when we are angry with her, and she often tells us, "No, don't be mad! Smile and be happy!" Even when Elijah crowds her space and blows out her birthday candles, she doesn't care one bit. What an angel!

Seara loves to change her clothes a thousand times a day. My mom says I deserve it because I was like that, too. :) Sisi's favorite is when we pull out the dress up clothes. Lucky for her Grandma Kaye sent her a princess outfit for her birthday, complete with jewelry, a crown, 'glass slippers' (as Seara calls them), and a home sewn cape and skirt. Sease was so excited that she asked me to take a picture of her. I know. Weird. So the question is, which do you prefer? I like the one on the left, Sam prefers the one on the right.

Seara loves all things girly. Like pink. And princesses. And apparently I didn't get the memo, but this was a princess-themed birthday, because my parents got her a pink castle with a prince and princess who dance together. Elijah immediately claimed the prince as his own and calls it, "Lije." True to form, Seara let him have it.

Man, I love my little girl!

she is beyond cute! the cake is very creative. i hope molly is taking notes because she isn't a cake fan either.

i like both pictures, but i think i'm with janae on this one. i like the one on the left better. its just so cute. i love that she's playing with her necklace.

Oh, I think the "cake" is perfect. All that matters is that there is something sugary to put candles into. Hallie did sugar cookies one year too.

And the castle is so cute! I haven't seen it before! She looks like she's in heaven! (Elijah looks pretty happy too.) :)

And I'm with Sam. I like the second picture better. Sorry sis!

I love the sugar cookies--cute! And her hair is getting so long. I like it! I've often heard that girls are harder to raise than boys. That may not be the case in your family :) I sure hope if I have a girl she's as easy going as Seara!!
(And I think I like the second pic the best, although really the fact that she wanted a picture taken makes them both winners!!)

She is so darling. It seems like yesterday you were pregnant with her!!

"Most of the time she'd prefer to let Elijah have the toy than to have a fight,"

I don't even know what to say to that. I didn't know such children existed...

I love the picture on the left, I think it has more personality! Wow, she is a good big sister. Awesome birthday cake!

Stan - That's it. I've been trying to pin point what exactly I prefer about the left one, and you hit the nail on the head. It's just HER. Thanks! :)

I'm sticking with the one on the right. I like the big grin--and the fact that she's adjusting her skirt like she's so proud of it. And it's taken at her level. What a cutie!

How darling. She is just the sweetest little lady, isn't she? And for the record, they are both cute, but I kind of like the one on the left.

What a birthday! I love that she wanted a picture! I like that she looks like she's growling in the one on the right. What did you do to get such good kids!? Maybe I should read the 2 year old for sale posts to remind me that you have your challenges too!

I feel the same way as you on the kindergarten thing! Each birthday I sadly count the number of years she has left at home!! What's even worse is that the July birthday moms could have a whole additional year if we waited a few weeks to have a child!!! Well, she's a cute birthday princess!

She's darling Janae. I'm glad that she is willing to let her brother(s) mess with her stuff. It gets pretty dicey at home when big sisters are territorial.

I love the princess outfit too. The one on the left reminds me of how kids are so much of the time. Cute little mischievous stinkers. My vote in for the one on the left.
