The thing is, Sam has a bad track record. He's only really sped one time: in the middle of nowhere, 100 miles from the nearest city, at 1:30 am. We weren't sleepy yet, but we were gonna be driving til 4:00 am, so I convinced him that it would be better to get there faster and thus have less sleepy time on the road. So he went 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. And he got a ticket.
Sorry, babe.
(Parenthetically, that lucky cop also got to watch both my boys tinkle in his headlights.)
Hence Sam insists that statistically, it's better not to speed. But au contraire mon cheri, you are mistaken. Your stats are bad. See, I've sped practically every single day since I got my driver's license. So that's about 4750 times. And I've only ever gotten one speeding ticket, as well. See? You're 1:1, and I'm 4750:1.
So statistically, it's better to speed all the time.

Paying $170 even once was enough to keep me more careful. Speeding is financially dangerous! We keep the speed around here. Mostly.

ps. Alyn - our tickets were only $90 each, so not too bad. My friend once sped in a school zone (I think she went 25 mph) and got a $500 ticket. OUCH! I don't ever speed there. Partially because of her experience. Partially because I have kids and know how careful you have to be (because they never are).
Haha, that's great. My sister was following me on the freeway the other day and I was driving SO slow so she could still see me. Apparently I drive over the speed limit too, ha.

Haha! That is too funny. I speed all the time - not too much. I try to stay within 10mph of the limit. Unless I spot a cop and then I slow down like I'm pretending to drive the limit. And then I found out how those radar guns work and my tactic would totally not work anyway! I've only had one ticket too and I forgot about my court date, skipped the state (I was a nanny and went home, ok?!) and somehow the cop was nice and it never ended up on my record.

I speed everywhere I go. Actually, here in Phoenix it's an unspoken rule that you really need to go at least 75 on the freeways. Even the highway patrol will go flying right past you if you're going 65!
I'm just a nervous driver; thus my grandma-like driving skills.
Sam - So not my fault. How could I prevent a deer from jumping out directly in front of my car?! I couldn't. My dad acted as if I could have, and two months later he hit a deer and totaled his car. So judge if you will, but watch your back, cuz justice will be mine. :)

Yay speeding!!!
I speed much less than Jason (I'm not as righteous as Sam), but I get the tickets. I've been pulled over 3 times in my life. Every time has resulted in a ticket. Once, I was on the way to a auxiliary leadership training meeting with two of my counselors. I was just staying up with traffic...the cop just happened to pull out behind me. Yeah, on the way to an EXTRA church function with church people in my car. Why do I never get the warnings?
