Breaking the Routine

While on-set, the only thing Samuel does for himself is dress. Once he's done with that, the makeup artists apply sunscreen on his head, hands, and feet, and then dirty him up. They also do his hair, using about fourteen total of five different kinds of bobby pins. (Apparently there are actually different purposes for the different types of pins.  Who knew!?) After hair and makeup, Sam goes to the touchers (that's honestly what they're called, cuz they touch you all over), and they use previous pictures to fix him up to be uniform.

Good thing I got an iPad so I could take this picture.

Normally Sam leaves between 4:30-6:30 a.m., and gets home between 8:30-9:30 p.m. Then we stay up for an hour and he tells me absolutely everything. For the next three days, however, he won't be coming home. That's because for the next three days they are shooting Gethsemane, and their calls times are 5:00 p.m. til 5:00 a.m. The guys are crashing at a house in Payson to sleep during the day.  I hope things go well.  Sam says that yesterday during the crucifixion they were all sobbing. Jesus, James, John, all the women, and even the makeup artists that were applying the Savior's beating makeup. Hard day emotionally.  I'm guessing the next three won't be any better.

I can't imagine how emotional it would be to be an actor on that set. What a lasting impact that experience will have on their lives.

Jolie - No kidding. It's strange to compare my day to Sam's when he gets home. What I do seems so unimportant! (Minus raising the kids part. That's important.)

Wow. Seriously. Wow.

Thanks, Linds. I've been worried that people don't care and that these posts are boring, so I'm glad someone is appreciating them!

I'm also enjoying all the set reports. So interesting getting all the tidbits.

Ha ha, I knew you were a detail person, Alyn, and considering your blog updates on your house projects, I figured you of all people would appreciate the random tidbits!

Hey :) I want to let you know that I love your blog so much that I nominated you for a blog award! I hope other people find your blog as hilarious as I do!

Sara - Hey newest cuz-in-law! I'm glad I amuse you, it's nice to know that people actually get my jokes (not everyone does, you know, I get some hilarious responses some times!) I'm flattered that you'd nominate my blog. I'm not really into the blog awards thing, so if it's okay with you, I probably won't perpetuate it, but thanks so much! I'm so glad you blog, it's been really fun to follow your blogs and get to know you better! :)

An experience that is definitely life-changing. It's hard to even imagine what it would be like to act that part.

I didn't know that there were 5 different kinds of bobby pins. hm.

That would be hard to do that part of the film. I think it would be the hardest being the actor for Jesus. I'd feel so unworthy.
