This post is made up of random thoughts I've had recently. There is no rhyme or reason to why I put them together.
First, I figured the post needed pictures. Who cares if I didn't get the kids all cute today or if they are in the middle of lunch? So, I told Seara to smile - and this is what she did (picture, after picture, after picture):
Elijah followed suit:
I think we may need to work on the definition of 'smile'.
Speaking of the kids, we go swimming quite a bit in the complex pool. And, much to my dismay the kids have discovered that when they get out of the water, all the liquid drips off them right between their legs. So now they like to get in and out, and then stand by the pool, bent in half watching the water drip. The best part is watching people's faces as Elijah exclaims "Pee-pee!" and Seara congratulates herself "Go pee-pee in the toilet! Good girl, Seara!" What am I supposed to do?! Loudly announce that they are not urinating, it's just water?!
People in my ward are super intelligent. As in I can't think of a single woman I've met who doesn't have either a master's degree or a doctorate degree. I already wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed or the brightest crayon in the box, but dang. In this shed I think I'd be a wheelbarrow and in this box I'm probably puce. The funny thing about them being so intelligent is that half the ward works "for the government" in a "department that can't be named." Ooooooh, sneaky! Very exciting. When people tell you that do you ever just want to play spy and drive to their house early in the morning and secretly follow them to work? Me neither. The thought never crossed my mind. Obviously.
Okay, another random thing. This was so, so funny, but you have to visualize it. So, imagine this: we're driving home from the grocery store on Saturday evening. The sun is setting, so it's getting just a bit darker outside. And we're in the middle of a tsunami-like rainstorm. At the intersection right before the freeway there is a small island, and in the middle of that island I see a parked bike. Next to that bike is a man in his 30s with shoulder length hair and unkempt facial hair. He is wearing shorts, a wife-beater, and a bicycle helmet. And, in the middle of this storm, he is holding a ginormous super-soaker gun and spotting out cars to spray, like he is some kind of sniper. Luckily we weren't targeted and made it by him in the nick of time. (Phew! I don't know if our car could have handled the likes of a bicycle helmet wearing sniper!) Honestly, though. Do you just wonder? Oh the questions I would ask him if I had the guts to actually get within 20 feet of the man!
No baby yet. On Sunday I had three hours of progressively stronger contractions, about 5 minutes apart. Then suddenly they stopped for an hour. Then they came back and I had even harder contractions every 2-3 minutes for an hour. Then those stopped. And I haven't had much more than braxton-hicks since then. Lame. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up! Speaking of Sunday - Father's Day - don't you think things like this make these holidays so much cooler:
(The cards especially help when dad makes his own Father's Day dinner and cleans everything up afterwards, all by himself. Poor dad! But I couldn't help it! I was in labor! Well, sort of.)
Okay, I said I'd try to post at least once before I have the baby. Here it is. My next one should be an announcement. Hopefully. Do you ever feel like you are going to be pregnant for the rest of your life?

I do indeed feel like I'm going to be pregnant the rest of my life. And, I still have almost 3 months left....Good luck. Hope the announcement comes soon!
Yes, I often feel like I'm going to be pregnant the rest of my life...darn pregnancy. So after our little chat this morning, I got curious about puce. Severin asked what it was and I was like "duh, a color" and he asked what color and i was like "duh, i have no idea". So I googled it and discovered that it's actually kind of a pretty color...I'm totally a fan. Check it out. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puce
Hey Lissa - no one outside of our family will get this, but I have to gloat for this brief moment that I KNEW WHAT COLOR PUCE WAS AND YOU DIDNT!!! (Okay, so I couldn't spell the word and had to call you to find out how, but still.) I'm glad you like puce, by the way, because brown and purple mixed sounds yucky to me. It looks kinda like my hair color - it can't quite decide what color it wants to be so it ends up in the poopy colored middle. :)
Sometimes I think I'd like to be the super soaker sniper dude... how different would that be?
HAHAHA! Your kids are so funny, Janae! That thing about the pool is so hilarious. I'm sure I'll get mine someday soon though.... ;-)
And wow... your entire ward works for the CIA and FBI! lol That must be entertaining. You shouldn't beat yourself up, though. I think you're pretty darn smart and very clever. The fact that they have masters and doctorates doesn't mean they're necessarily smarter, just that they have more student loans. heehee (not dissing anyone that happens to have one of those degrees)
Anyway, we miss you guys!
After hanging out in college towns for 12 years of my life, and earning all of a high school diploma...
I feel that advanced degrees don't make you smarter, they just show you stuck with it longer.
Don't be intimidated! Fortunately self worth isn't determined by academic achievements. I was something of a "Ravenclaw" in high school, high SAT scores and all that, so putting academia in perspective has been important to me over the last 10 years.
Best wishes with the arrival of the baby! I hope your labor goes great.
To answer your last question, yes. I remember thinking it was going to last forever. And really believing it would. Pregnancy does weird stuff to your brain. And...to join in on the puce discussion...haven't you ever watched Monsters Inc??? It talks about the puce-colored paper work. Come on people!!!
Hey believe me, I know what it's like to have top secret government employees around....I live with one! "So what did you do today, honey?" "Uh, that's classified." Nice.
The pool thing is hilarious. I can totally see that happening. In fact, though it's not as bad, every time I take Andrew & Kate into a public restroom with me, Andrew stands there and says "Poop, poop," over and over and Kate hollers at the top of her lungs, "Are you going poop, mom? Ew, it stinks!" If I could just leave them wandering the store while I did my thing, I would.
As for the sniper guy, I'm totally with Aubrey. How cool would it be if I was actually creative and daring enough to do that myself?! That would be just totally awesome! I mean really, it would probably brighten at least one person's day...I mean, heck, you remembered it and even blogged about it. Maybe I'll try it sometime, but it just won't have the same effect I'm sure with me simultaneously trying to keep my kids from running out into the road. Alas, perhaps another season under the sun.
Thank you for sharing the super soaker dude story! Totally made me laugh! I just love the image in my mind I can't stop laughing. As for me, I am 15 weeks and will be pregnant forever it is just a matter of acceptance :)
