Before we moved out here I thought that ...
- Maryland was near Maine.
- Easterners dressed like Europeans and that my Western-ness would be obviously out of style.
- Steam only came out of sewers in the movies.
- I was very directionally adept.
- When you drove down the freeway with forest on both sides of you, you were in the middle of a forest.
- I was liberal.
Now I know that ...
- Maryland is no where near Maine, it is by D.C. (Who knew?!)
- Easterners are not chic like Europeans. They look just as dumb and sloppy as the rest of us Americans. (Don't take that personally, please!)
- Steam comes out of sewers in real life. At least it does in Baltimore. (Should that disgust me? I haven't quite decided if I think it looks neat or if I want to vomit.)
- I am directionally impaired anywhere that does not use a grid system (aka anywhere that is not Utah).
- When you are surrounded by forests on the freeway, you are in the middle of a huge city.
- I am sooo conservative, I'm practically becoming an elephant. (That is a reference to the Republican party, not to my size right now :)

Ha ha. That was amusing, especially since we are fellow easterners. :) Steam comes out of the sewers in Pennsylvania too. I think it looks cool. But only because I'm really naive and don't know what it actually is being caused from or what is actually in that steam. (Don't tell me, I don't want to know). I liked the forest comment. So true. And I always knew deep down that you were an elephant. :)
The grid system rules! I wish they'd quit trying to name our streets here in Utah.

Told you it is different! And I totally know about the direction thing. We lived in WV for almost 2 years, and the day we left I still had no idea which way was North, East, etc. And it is a heck of a time trying to find the peoples' homes who live in your ward!
