on your marks ... get set ... GO!

Just wondering ... How is it that every dancer I met at college won 1st place in Nationals during high school? And how is it that every boy I dated won 1st place in their Cub Scout Pine Wood Derby? Really, how is that possible?

Lija: What am I doing? Oh, nothing, nothing. I mean, I'm not up to any good.

If it is so advantageous to study before bed (because going to sleep with the information in your mind helps put it in your long term memory), then why is it that I can't ever remember the brilliant ideas I have as I'm falling asleep?

me: [hugging him] I love you, Lijey.
Elijah: I love my socks.

Why is it that on the ONLY day that I wear pigtails and look completely juvenile (and yet like a frumpy housewife at the same time), that I run into both a girl I worked with 12 years ago at Maceys AND one of my district leaders from my mission?!

Your kids are so cute. They crack me up. Oh, and yesterday I was showing my kids your latest movie and Ethan said to me, "Mom, who is Elijah's mom?" I said, "Aunt Janae", and he had this surprised look on his face like, "Really?? I never would have guessed!" Cracked me up!
Oh my gosh, the teeth one...
I'll be chuckling at that one ALL day long.
Those kiddos really say the most random things. I think it's great. Yeah, about the high school dance team thing...I really have no idea, but I've noticed the same thing.
By the way, are you planning on going to the 10 yr reunion...since you're still in town and all.
Lija's face in that picture is hilarious!
haha! cute stuff. and every time i look really bad and HAVE to run in somewhere i see someone i haven't see in forever! it must be Murphy's Law or something!
Cara - Yeah, who would have guessed I'm Elijah's mom?! I mean, the kid looks nothing like me. Well, except his beautiful head shape. He got my head, and I must admit, I have a lovely shaped cranium. If any of my kids inherit the bald gene, I hope it's Lija, because this head shape would look just fine bald. (Not that I'm wishing cancer on myself or anything ...)
Krishele - There's a 10 year reunion? I mean, I guess I assumed there would be, but I haven't heard anything about it. Have you? If so, please update me!
Elijah is hilarious! I love his quotes. And Searah--hah! "They keep people safe"? I love it!
And yes. My grody days are the days I end up meeting people, darn it. So lately I've taken to being as ungrody as I possibly can be...but sometimes sweats just feel so good!
Thank you for the good laugh! Your kids are great! The pigtail incident is SO funny and I feel for you!
I swear the only time I ever run into anyone I know is when I'm not wearing makeup! I faithfully have been putting it on every day now.
p.s. I got 2nd at nationals. Hehe.
Thanks for the laugh ~ the kids and the pigtails. I'm laughing with you not at you. And btw, I just saw an article online that said, when done right, pigtails are totally in.
Wait a second, did Sam tell you he won first place at the pine wood derby!? Um, his car fell apart as it went down the track and didn't even cross the finish line.
:) seriously
How in the world do you know every boy you dated won first place in the pine wood derby?! Is that one of your fall back questions when the conversation lulls? Maybe that's why you thought Sam won- the conversation never lulled so you never got to ask him. If "Joe" is telling the truth anyway.
I find the higher your usual standard of appearance- the worse you feel when people see you like you normally look. So I typically go with the no makeup, ponytail, jeans/t-shirt look and when I do "dress up" I get lots of compliments. I remember I came over to babysit for someone once and they answered the door without their make-up on and I honestly could hardly tell it was the same person she looked so different!
I love your random tid-bit posts!
