Our 4th Anniversary

WARNING: If you have jealous tendencies, you better back away from your computer right now. Because this might throw you into a jealous rage.

Yesterday Samuel and I celebrated our 4th anniversary. (No, we never imagined that by our fourth we would have THREE kids. We think we're just as insane as you think we are.) But all that is not the reason you should be jealous (in fact, for that we probably deserve your pity and prayers). THIS is the reason you should be jealous:

1) After dinner, Sam takes full responsibility of the kids. He plays with them, reads to them, gets them ready for bed, and puts them to sleep. While I do whatever I want. (Which is usually something lame like fold laundry. But still.)

2) As long as he is home, I pretty much never change a diaper. And I wasn't the one who instigated that.

3) When the baby wakes up at night, Samuel gets up and brings him to me in bed. I feed the baby, then Sam burps him and puts him back to bed. If he is upset, Sam is the one who is up with him. Once again, this was not my doing - it has been at his insistence since baby #1.

4) When we visit my family, he takes over the kids so I can visit. For example, when we visited my sister Cara in Pittsburgh, he would disappear with all the kids, and leave Cara and I to chat for hours.

5) Each night he writes in his journal and always ends with "I love Janae because ... " and fills in some cute detail that makes me sound way cooler than I am. The best part about that, though, is that last Valentines he combined all those reasons into a book for me.

And you think these are highlight moments of how wonderful he is - the best of the best. THEY'RE NOT! If I told you the best of the best, you would probably leave your husband and come try to steal mine. BUT HE'S MINE AND I'M NOT SHARING so you don't get those kinds of juicy details. :)

Thanks for the warning up top... Caution to all readers: Don't try to hint, cajole, or force your hubby to be so cool. Not everyone can meet such a high standard! : )

We'll just assume you have a perfect hubby, and must have other trials in life. : ) Nathan has done much better about getting up in the night with this baby, he's grown past some of his rookie mistakes. And he does most of the cooking, which is great!

All those of you in a jealous rage, just know that Every husband/father has his own talents... And some take longer to develop those talents than others.

He sounds almost as wonderful as your Uncle Derek. Now that is an accomplishment!

Happy Anniversary!

Imagine my surprise when I got on your blog today and saw the above comment by "anonymous" I wonder who could have written that. It wasn't me if that helps with your deductive reasoning.

And because I should probably support anonymous...Sam does sound ALMOST as wonderful as Derek.

Ahh you guys are so cute together! I love your wedding pics.

I think guys that change diapers are awesome. Steve does all the time & I love it!

I can't believe how many friends I have that tell me that their husbands have never changed 1 single diaper! Those men should be ashamed of themselves! Haha

Cute post - I loved it!

Happy anniversary, a little late! I have to admit I thought about calling my hubby and having him read this. But he is so wonderful to me, just in different ways. So I can't complain. But I can wish!

Happy Anniversary! You'll have to have Sam shoot Ben an e-mail about all the things he does for the baby...that way it might rub off on him :)

I want to know some of those juicy details! :) Actually, I kind of understand not sharing everything - when I made Davis' birthday post there were so many more things I considered sharing but decided to cut out. Samuel is definitely a very thoughtful husband - I love how he writes in his journal about you. That is so sweet. You two are perfect for each other!

Can your husband and my husband be friends...oh wait, they are...and it seems this stuff still hasn't rubbed off on Bart. Te he he, Bart's Awesome, but I don't think I will ever get out of changing at least some diapers while he is home. Maybe when I stop working...one can only hope. :o)

I think you just revealed your secret for keeping your sanity with three kids so close in age. He sounds like a great guy! That is so thoughtful of him to do all of those things. What a good wife to appreciate them too. Thanks for the post on my blog. I don't think you count as a stalker since I invited you! :-)

Janae, I will happily take credit for all of Sam's good behavior owing to a certain talk we had before you two got married (you know the one: "you better make my sister happy or you'll end up --insert gruesome death here--").

P.S. Sam, remember that nice chat we had when I mentioned you may end up dying horribly in seventeen different ways? Well forget it; your making me look bad.
