The very first thing I hated when we moved in was the basement stairs. The olive paint on one side and chocolate on the other made the stairs incredibly dark, and the thread-bare forest green carpet only made it worse. The handrail was nicked, chipped, and peeling. Frankly, it was gross. And the kids were scared to go down there.
Well, we painted the rail white and the walls the same creamy yellow as the rest of the house just before we moved in. And two weeks ago the new carpet was finally installed. It matches the carpet in the bedrooms. I didn't color correct either of these pictures, and they were taken with all the same lighting. Isn't that insane?!

Looks great! You guys are on a roll. We've lived in our house for over a year, and I still haven't finished painting.
I think the change is perfect! I can see why your kids were scared. I would be, too!:)
That's crazy how much of a difference that made! That's the same lighting? Wow!
Wow, that's a big difference! No wonder your kids were scared to go down there. I would have been too.
I love the new paint and carpet! I can't believe what a difference it makes, good job.
Thanks, guys! :)
What a difference! Good move guys!
Nothing like a new coat of paint and some nice new carpet. It looks fantastic. I'll have to come by and see your new place...sometime...
Sheles - You're welcome any time you're in town. That is if your mom will share you with me. ;)
I wouldn'tve wanted to go in the basement either! Now it looks so fresh and inviting.
Good. Job.
Looks great!
