Since Sam is teaching at the Art Institute he didn't get a summer semester break until the last week of September. So we pulled Seara from school for a week (it's just kindergarten right?) and off we went to Colorado ...

Mosquito bites Sam received despite never using any bug spray: 0
Mosquito bites Janae received through two layers of clothes despite using gallons of bug spray: 4

Whew! I'm getting exhausted just reading about what we did.
Mesa Verde was amazing. I've seen a lot of ruins in my day, so I'm a pretty good judge of cool ruins, and these were spectacular.

Sarah - Ha, ha! So I wondered that same thing before. This is what I found. According to the Mayo Clinic, mosquitoes are more likely to bite:
Men
People with type O blood
Overweight people
People in dark clothing (they are attracted to heat)
As I am an average weight woman who was wear white, I can only assume that my O+ blood is the culprit. Darn that blood!

What an awesome adventure! Your kids are going to be so well rounded when the grow up. They probaly have been to more places on the map than Isaac and I.

Yeah, as much as I love the outdoors and camping I think I'll wait until my youngest is a little older. We had a REALLY bad experience with Spencer when he was 14 months old just ask Alyn or Erin, they were there. I love all the wild life pictures. What a great trip.

I have O+ blood, too--so that's got to be why I get so many mosquito bites!
I have a brother-in-law who got stung by a scorpion on his mission and should have been paralyzed by it. Instead, after 6 months of not being able to use one arm, his blood is now carrying the mysterious poison and mosquitos DIE when they suck his blood. MWA hah hah haaaa!
Lucky. See, that's what we need to do: just go get stung by deathly scorpions and pray we don't die!
