we like to race. especially to grocery stores. we are planning to stop before our kids are old enough to be embarrassed. maybe.
The other day Sam went to bed early. When I finally crawled in bed, I laid down on my back so I could stare at the ceiling as I wound down. Sam stirred at the movement, and rolled on to his side so he was right next to me. Then he propped himself up on his elbow so his face hovered over mine. I assumed he was wanting to kiss me good night, so I leaned in to kiss him, but he didn't respond. I dropped my head back down on the pillow. He just sat there, staring at me. After about 20 seconds of this, I finally asked him,
"Sam, what are you doing?"
He paused and then responded, "Trying to figure out who you are."
I hesitated, confused, and finally asked, "Who else would I be?!"
Somewhere in his eyes I saw a small spark of waking up and realizing what was going on. He said nothing, just flopped down and rolled away.
Apparently I'm not the girl of his dreams if he doesn't recognize me in his sleep.

Wait, who ARE you?
SOOOOOOOO FUNNY! I laughed for a while. James confirms the fact that Sam talks in his sleep. And once walked in his sleep. Hmmm. I think I'm going to start sending James to bed early to see if he'll say funny things to me!
Aaron calls me the best wife in the world in his sleep. Sorry. Thanks for the bday wishes yesterday. I need to call you!
I laughed for a long time on that one. That is FUNNY!
I almost woke up my kid laughing.
And the thing that stuck out the most to me was - you laid ON YOUR BACK.
Sigh. Two more months .....
That is way funny!
Poor Sam...
Sleep talking is much more amusing when it's someone else...
That is so funny!
Hahaha! I'm glad I'm not the only one that has a husband that says and does weird things in his sleep! HA!
I'm starting to get the vibe that this blog is about all the weird stuff I do. Not sure how I feel about that! :)
Jodi - Sam's told me about the sleepwalking. I only wish he talked in his sleep more! It's happened maybe three or four times in our marriage, despite my desperate attempts to get him to have conversations with me in the middle of the night. :)
Sam - Oddly, I noticed the same thing today. I mean, my two most recent posts were about you. If you would please embarrass yourself more so that I could post more often, I'd appreciate it!
HAHAHAHA! (Who does all your picture taking? Your kids must be pros...)
I am loving the running picture. You are sooo stinkin' hot. But running down the street barefoot? Ouch. I really don't think you should stop racing for your kids' sakes...they embarrass you all of the time (at least mine do..."Mommy, why is that lady fat?" In a loud enough voice that the lady and everyone within 50 ft can hear). It's payback.
And at least Sam doesn't beat you in his sleep. I've been known to pull out some pretty intense moves when I'm out cold.
I love it! So funny! Once in the middle of the night, while I lay awake, Dan started repeating 'calender' over and over. The next morning I asked him who he was dreaming about and was her name calender. He had no idea what I was talking about. :) (Maybe he's just really busy and living by the calender. I'm not really sure.) So much fun, what we do in our sleep.
.. don't even get me started on the funny stuff my wife does when she is unconscious. Before the baby it seems that I did it more than her, but since the baby she is the MVP!
Whew - for a minute there I thought I was reading a Stephanie Meyers novel.
I love knowing that the majority of the time I read your blog I'm going to laugh out loud. You and Sam are a great pair :)
It's true. Great pair. I liked the Stephanie Meyers comment. Funny.
