334: A Love Story

For one of Sam's classes this semester he had to make a still-frame, storyboard movie. The b&w pics are of our apartment (inside and door - we're #334) and the apartment across the hall (just the door). The real movie actually has more frames, but shrinking it for the internet makes it slower so some of the faster parts are missing the in between shots. I still think it's fun! My only complaint is that I think the boy should look like Sam and the girl should look like me. C'mon honey!

I love it!! I've been trying to learn how to do animation on illustrator... but I don't know if I have all the right programs. It looks like a lot of fun to do! Anyway, that was great! What was the song he used as a background?

That was really cute! Sure had me worried for the little guy for a minute there! Good job Sam, I'm impressed.

Steph - there are two songs, both by my man Duke (Ellington). The first one is "I Can't Give You Anything but Love", the other is "Take the A Train". Great, great songs. I had been planning on using the A Train for a movie of mine, but Sam stole it. Darn him. :)

Too cool. I am super impressed. :) Although I am curious about Sam's inspiration for the Janae-character. A black girl?? I guess there's more to learn about Janae than we thought!

ps- yep, I didn't know about your obsession with Taiwan and China, but I want to know more...

Ok, so Sam might need to get his eyes checked if the girl across the hall is supposed to be you! :) That is really cool!

Seriously good movie! I love the style... the real black and white background with the colored animation. I liked the effects of the rain and looking like a circle when he looks through the peep hole. It's got good plot too ( a climax, conflict, resolution). I give it an A+. Is this the kind of thing Sam wants to do when he graduates? Work at Pixar? :-)
PS I thought you were supposed to tell us all your deep dark secrets on your blog... you've been holding out on your obsessions. I'm in agreement with other comments= I don't care how many languages you learn the blog stays in English. Caphiche!

I loved the movie. It's the same music from his previous film: "The Box." Have you seen it?

janae said...

SOOOO funny Jodi ... Sam actually never planned on using that song because he had already used it (for "The Box"), but I insisted because I thought it worked so well. I told him that no one would know that he was re-using the song. I guess I was wrong!! :)

Sorry for being the spoiler. I do like "The Box" much better than the other movie I've seen: "Riboflaven." I think they were just tired and silly when they made that one!

Luke keeps asking to watch this. over and over again.

And I know this is weird, but right at the end, I think the straight on shot of the girl kind of looks like Sam.
