BYU Basketball

As you all know, I LOVE BYU football. Unfortunately, my support of BYU basketball isn't quite as strong. It waned a bit recently. See, on Friday, December 21st, BYU played SUU (Southern Utah University). Not a big deal, right? WRONG. See, my cute cousin Davis Baker is a starting guard for SUU. And I apologize to BYU, but blood is stronger than university loyalties. Davis just barely got back from his mission to Toronto and is playing at SUU for the first time (he played a year at UC Irvine before his mission). So this was the first time for most of us to see him really play. Davis' dad flew up for the game and my dad got tickets for everyone in the family who was in the area - I think about 20 of us all went to the game to support Davis. He did amazing too! He played 38 minutes of the game - which was basically the entire game with one or two small breathers. He tied for high score on his team (15 points), and the only person to out score him was a guy on BYU's team. He is also an amazing guard - the guy he was on hardly got to touch the ball and never got to shoot. (Actually, Davis went out for two minutes, the guy scored four points, and the coach immediately put Davis back in the game.) And for the sake of family, you ought to know that Davis is really a team player. He was always willing to pass the ball or make the assist. He really is an ideal player for any coach.
