All Hallows' Eve

Sam had to work tonight (lame), so he ran home (literally), put on the kids' facepaint, and then ran back (also literally) to teach his class. There are some major perks to living two minutes (literally) away from his work.

So, presenting our kids in their 2011 glory! We have a cat, a skeleton, and a genie. None of which I ever was. But Liam was the cat, Trenton was the skeleton, and Lissa was the genie. Thanks, mom, for having an awesome costume closet so that I don't have to ever buy costumes. And sorry, kids, that we don't own a single costume because we always borrow grandma's.

And, of course, here we are. My sister has crazy cool Halloween parties every year, and this year's theme was decades. With this hair and beard, how could we not be the 70s?!

Peace, man.

I love those pics of our kids!

And we look pretty confused – perfect for hippies.

Sam! You read the blog and commented! That is HUGE!

Um, excuse me but I was definitely the cat like 3 times before Liam ever was. Rude. ;)

You look so cute! I had pants just like those and mike had a jacket just like that. Ha ha ha!

You guys look AWESOME. Hippies was a good choice.

I dressed up for work as a 70s chick (cute polyester dress and sandals with 70s hair and hoops) but no one even realized I was wearing a costume. When I asked if anyone knew what I was trying to be the best guess was: a "sexy Moses".

Sweet!

Cathy - My mom said the same thing about the pants! :)

Paige - A sexy Moses?! Really?? That's hilarious! The hard thing about the 70s is that we are just finishing the resurgence and moving into the 80s (ew), so a lot of the stuff they wore is stylish nowadays too. We worked really hard to find really unique 70s looking stuff.

I love the costumes! You would have rocked the 70s. I love it!

I have a former roommate who dressed up as a Flagstaff hippy. I think we will have to keep our eyes peeled at second hand stores and copy her. If you've spent much time in Flagstaff hippies you know what I mean.

I loved your guys costumes. WE were lame and didn't dressed up...again!

You look pretty hot as a hippie:)

Caroline - Speaking of hot, I had a dream that we were shopping together at a really darling fashion store, and I told you that I was pregnant with our first, but then I realized that Sam and I weren't married yet and we had broken the law of chastity. It was awful!

That would make it difficult for him to appear as an apostle in his upcoming movie, wouldn't it?:)

Totally jealous that your mom has so many costumes for you to borrow, and that you're close enough to do it! And you're right, what other decade could you guys be? Seriously, that was perfect.

Okay...it's kind of creepy how well you guys pulled off the hippie thing. If I didn't know you and you couldn't tell by improved cameras, I would totally think you lived during the '70s.

And I thought the same thing as Lissa...I remember her as the cat really well.

I love all the costumes! Great job!

Cara - Aunt Denise actually edited our picture to make it look like 70s film and it's really pretty creepy how authentic it looks! My droopy eyes look pretty period appropriate, I must say. I practiced that. :)

You guys TOTALLY rock that look! Seriously, you look like you stepped out of my mom's yearbook.

You guys really DO look like you belong in a different decade! Where did you find those awesome bell bottoms?!? Are you taller than your man here?

I wish I had an awesome Halloween party to go to...but even if I did...Sadly Jason is LAME about Halloween and doesn't dress up. Ever. Grrrr.
