Cousins! back: Cara, Enoch; front: Ethan, Makenna, Seara, Elijah, Savanna, Hallie, Amalie

ENOCH
Does:
Plays peek-a-boo
Give high fives
Waves hello and good bye
Pats mouth while he says "ahh"
Gets into anything and everything
Cries for about 15 seconds when he doesn't get his way, then pops his thumb in his mouth to calm himself
Says:
Done
Down
Ball (sounds like 'bah')
Dada
Nana (banana)
Uh-oh
Doesn't Say:
Mama
ELIJAH
When Sam and Liam refused to let him put on Seara's orange swimsuit,SEARA
"Leave. me. a.lone, kids!"
While walking outside with a pair of adult-sized scissors,
Cara: Lija, what are you doing?
Lije: I'm gonna go cut the ants.
Cutting in a conversation I was having with Lissa that was not about him,
Lije: Don't talk about me!
Us: What??
Lije: Stop talking about me!
When he accidentally fell through the toilet seat, dipping his bottom in the water,
Lije: [shock]
Sam: [starts laughing]
Lije: Ha, ha! I took a bath in the toilet!
During family scripture study,
Me: We need to trust Jesus.
Lije: No! I don't trust Jesus! I like goats!
Sam: Look at the birdies outside! What do you think the birds are saying?
Seara: We're going to the top of the tree!
I've been waiting for the day Seara began naming her dolls. I couldn't wait to find out what she'd call them. Something romantic like Felicity? Something silly like Forky? I have to hand it to her, even with all my day dreaming and preparation, she still surprised me. She named the first "Sisi" and the second "Lija's Sisi". Very original.
To understand this you need to know that when the kids [read: Elijah] wet their pants I insist that they get cleaned off. We tried baths and showers, but Lije started wetting his pants on purpose. So now we do cold showers. But not that cold, and not that long. Just enough that they don't encourage Lije to wet on purpose. Okay, so this afternoon Lije wet just a little bit in his undies,
Sease: You're a bad boy!
Lije: I'm not a bad boy! I'm a good boy!
Sease: You went peepee in your undies. You're a bad boy.
Lije: I'm a good boy!
Sease: You have to take a cold shower. Only bad boys take cold showers!

My favorite is "No! I don't trust Jesus! I like goats!"
It really makes me think when I hear my kids repeating some of the things they must have heard me say. Such as the "leave me alone" comment. Asa says that, too.
And I can't believe that I'm the first comment!
I love the update on your kids. They are so cute and so original. It amazes me what is going on in their heads.
Question: Are Makenna and Savanna Davis' girls?
Mel - Yeah, they're Davis' girls. All the rest are mine and Cara's (obviously).
I love the funny things kids say!
Elijah sounds like such a boy!
Elijah cracks me up. I forgot about the cutting ants comment. That was so funny!
Oh yeah. Those other two kids are pretty cute too. :)
Neither one of my girls said 'mommy' right away when they started talking. I think for Jaclyn I was something like #5 down the list of words she said!! She said kitty before mommy. Gee, thanks alot kid. ;-)
Hearing the funny things people's kids say is seriously one of my favorite things about blogs. They just don't think the same way. I loved all of them! I think most kids give their dolls boring names at that age. I recall Alyn had a doll named Baby Sister. I named mine after my cousin. Charlotte is saying Mama and Dada occassionally but that's it so far. That's cute all the things Enoch can do already!
I'm definitely going to miss goatmeal. :)
I'm definitely going to miss goatmeal. :)
your kids are too funny. this post was hysterical. i looove it.
What crack-ups you have! I love that you write down these little silly conversations, but they are definitely worth remembering.
Love the goat/Jesus comment.
But also Forky. Your kids are cute and funny, but that one got me laughing! :)
Katie - Forky was my nieces' dolls name. Not the worst one, but that one isn't appropriate for a blog. :)
I love these kinds of posts! Goatmeal is great. Andrew just calls it meal. "What do you want for breakfast?" "Meal." Simple.
I also like the "I don't trust Jesus!" one. It reminds me of a family night we were having one night and Andrew was mad about something. So to try to get his mind off of it we pointed to a picture of Jesus and asked, "Andrew, who's this?" In a desperate attempt to be defiant he stubbornly yells, "Not Jesus!"
Your kids are just the funniest, best kids ever. This past weekend I got to experience some of these wonderous quotes and activites and they just crack me up. Of course my favorites are all Enoch's. He just makes me smile. The way he puts his hand on my mouth to go "ah-uh-ah" like him. The way he throws his milk on the floor along with his raisins and crackers, just so he can say "uh-ho".. oh goodness, that kid is such a keeper. My favorite of all time is either rocking him to sleep in the rocking chair like old times, OR, possibly just the look he gives me every time I walk in the room. Someday the man I marry will give me that same look. As for now, I appreciate it a million times over and over, every time I see prender (precious+tender) baby Enoch.
Heehee! This post was so funny. I wish I was better about writing down the funny things Tommy says. One thing: on our trip to Montana he just started singing "Find a peanut Find a peanut..." Do you know that scouting song? Anyway, we laughed pretty hard. Yeah we sing weird songs to Tommy like that including the Darth Vader theme song... oh yeah, and plenty of primary songs to balance things out. LOL
Good job on recording your kids cute sayings!
